The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005
Working with vibrating tools can cause Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS), which damages blood vessels, nerves, muscles and joints in hands and fingers. Early signs include white finger attacks, tingling, numbness, and reduced grip strength. Without intervention, HAVS becomes severely disabling and irreversible.
Your employer must provide HAVS health surveillance under the Control of Vibration Regulations 2005 because you use vibrating tools. This assessment detects early HAVS symptoms, prevents progression, and ensures appropriate workplace controls.
Your clinical results remain confidential. Your employer receives only a fitness certificate with workplace recommendations. You may be referred to an occupational physician if needed.
By completing this form, you consent to this process.
Please attach photographs of a blanching episode at the end of this questionnaire.
Otherwise, take several hand photographs (holding hands next to your face) during a blanching episode and bring them to your next assessment.
